  1. The response to the invitation to join has been brisk, just hours after the invitation went out. Here is a sampling of some of the reactions:

"Sounds great. We travel too in the summer and so it will be great to keep in touch of what is going on in Anna Maria. I fear that it may seem to the opposition as a good time to "try something". Thanks for including us."

"I would LOVE to join you-all. It is a wonderful idea and a way to stay one step ahead of the pack"

"Sign me up. You have done a great deed. I hereby nominate you as head Dune-hugger"

"I have several concerns about what is happening in Anna Maria. Although I have only lived here since July of 1998, I am a lifelong visitor. I grew up in Lakeland and my parents built a home on Palmetto Avenue in 1949. I spent all of my summers here and continued to visit while I was in Alabama for 35 yeras. I love Anna Maria."

"This is one those “why didn’t I think that” ideas. Good for all of us."

"Please put me on the Anna Maria Blog- great idea. Let's push for a City Park on Pine and N. Bay!"

"I accept your invitation to the cyber coconut telegraph…hilarious – giddy porpoise. bronze plaque…"

"Thank you for this outlet. The papers, as you point out don't always
present our views and this is understandable since they are dependent on the commercials that support their publishing costs. My personal view is that we already have too much commercial zoning which explains the constant changing of businesses in the present zoned buildings. I'd like to join the blog"

  2. Thanks Duke for your efforts to get this Blog up and running. It is imperative that we as residents
take up the battle to preserve our city. We cannot
depend on elected officials to preserve our city.
Our emails, phone calls, and attendance to city
commission meeting is the first line of defense.
