Guilty Until Proven Innocent
Jesus had no particular quarrel with Rome and did not violate Roman law. And yet he was punished by the Romans in accordance with Roman law, and executed by a means exclusively reserved for those guilty of crimes against the empire. The only crime Jesus committed was to question authority. Those in authority were not acting in accordance with God’s way about bestowing authority. Think of it like his LDR’s. But, the Romans knew if the people were made aware of their self proclaimed authority they would be out of a job. So they had to get rid of Jesus.

January of 1692, the daughter and niece of Reverend Samuel Parris of Salem Village became ill. When they failed to improve, the village doctor, William Griggs, was called in. His diagnosis of bewitchment put into motion the forces that would ultimately result in the death by hanging of nineteen men and women. In addition, one man was crushed to death; seven others died in prison, and the lives of many were irrevocably changed.

Steven Jay Hatfill an American physician, virologist and bio weapons expert who underwent what was considered by many to be a trial by media with great toll on his personal and professional life. After eight months of pressure from the media, the Department of Justice identified the former government scientist as a “person of interest” in its investigation of the 2002 anthrax attacks. Dr. Hatfill later sued the government for ruining his reputation, a case which the government settled for $5.8 million. Investigators later announced that the anthrax attacks had been carried out by another government scientist, Bruce Edwards Ivins, who they concluded had acted alone.

Aug. 29, 2007 — Richard A. Jewell, whose transformation from heroic security guard to Olympic bombing suspect and back again came to symbolize the excesses of law enforcement and the news media, died Wednesday at his home in Woodbury, Ga. He was 44. Reporters who set upon him, he would later say, “were like piranha on a bleeding cow.” He was cleared of any involvement by the FBI.

On November 18, 1978, 912 followers of American cult leader Jim Jones ("Peoples Temple") died in a remote South American jungle compound called "Jonestown" in British Guyana. Some members were shot, others were forced to drink poison, but most willingly participated in what Jones said was an act of "revolutionary suicide."

On august 12, 2010 judge Edward Nicholas determined the recall election sought by his detractors could be held with the understanding the results would not be counted nor certified since the Commissioner had an appeal pending with the DCA to decide the legal legitimacy of the recall itself. He stated, “If the Commissioner is removed from office and my order is reversed...obviously the harm is irreparable”

So on September 7, 2010 , Harry Stoltzfus, a Commissioner of the City Of Anna Maria was the first elected official in Manatee County and the city of Anna Maria to be recalled. His “lynching by the media” was the result of, slander, innuendo, lies, pressure from the silver spoon and his goon and a little help from their own hired gun, albeit a spear gun, Michael Barfield. A real life felon, as in he broke the law several times and is guilty of crimes. His daughter wondered how this could happen. Her Mom explained, “poison pens were used by the local papers to spread fear among the people, like a bewitchment, to convince their readers her Dad intended to harm the village of Anna Maria, to plunder it‘s treasury, reach into the pockets of the citizenry and create havoc for developers by insisting the Village laws be upheld. They wrote he secretly planned ways to harm the city for his own gain. Each week they spread the papers throughout the Village featuring stories, editorials, and letters, the old news as new news, all with one goal; convince the readers the "poison" they were reading was the only truth and removing the commissioner from office would save the Village. However, as the election got close, the goon got nervous, his trigger finger itchy, creating a scenario and resorting to false accusations, calling the police, not sure he could trust the editors to get the job done. No worries there. Her response; “Mom, if the papers told everyone to kill themselves would they? I thought a moment and wondered myself.

I want to thank all the many friends and supporters, the 333 certified voters, the people that stepped up and did the grunt work. To the many who took time to write about Harry, such an overwhelming response. To those that printed folded and licked. To the ones who served before, got involved and served again, thank you! To the many standing on Pine Avenue in 90 degree heat waving at voters, those that liked Harry, those that didn’t, like the one that flipped my daughter the bird. Thanks to the young adults, Cody, Lauren, and Drayten who rode their festooned bikes to and fro for the cause, even when they were chastised and called “creepers” by the an adult woman standing with the opposition. To Betsy Hills for allowing us to take over her parking lot. Talk about integrity.

The many efforts were monumental. The Anna Maria we all cherish will likely change but, the memories of what was will be forever ours.

To the many detractors, the convicts, shop lifters, tattooed woman, the fabricators, the faux journalists, the accusers, the followers, the ambulance chasers, the hangers on, the coward that left the message in my yard, the fearful, the goon and the silver spoon who according to Southern Living Magazine can be seen on any given day riding up and down Pine Avenue on their bikes, don‘t drink the Kool Aid.

My precious daughter, ‘tis far better to have lost playing by the rules, not sacrificing your honor or integrity, than to have won by cheating, lying and selling your soul to the devils. Remember those recently lost and the ones fighting to survive. Perspective does help.
Your Dad is a winner.
Love, Mom
